Don't Worry, It'll Probably Pass

Cinema 21

"Are you there? A girl attracted to both boys and girls??" Filmmaker Cecilia Neant-Falk placed this ad in a Swedish Magazine when she was a 14-year-old girl. Now, she places the ad again on the internet and in this documentary films three teenage girls, picked out of 80 who responded to the ad. Each of the girls was given a video camera to record their feelings over a time period of four years and with this Neant-Falk uses the digital camera technology as a new approach to the authorship of documentary films. Because the three girls, Natalie, My, and Joppe, recorded their thoughts and experiences without any interviewer’s questions and directors guidance, this footage shows, truthfully and humorously, how these teenagers come to terms with their emotions and sexual feelings. A powerful and inspiring documentary about teenagers growing up gay and their time between self-realization and coming out.

Dir. Cecilia Neant-Faulk
2003 Sweden Video 74 min Swedish with English subtitles
